How we compare eSIM plans
Every plan detail and price on this site was read from the provider that sells the plan. This page explains where the numbers come from, how the planner uses them and where the limits are.
Sources
Plans, prices and country lists come from each provider's public website. We record the regular listed price in US dollars, without promo codes. The date of the last check is on every page that shows a price.
Hotspot, activation and top-up rules come from the provider's help center. When a help page does not state a rule, the field says "Not stated". We do not guess.
The same fields for every plan
- Provider and product name
- Countries covered, as the provider lists them
- Data included, or unlimited
- Validity in days
- Price and price per gigabyte
- Whether hotspot is allowed
- When validity starts: at purchase, at installation or on first connection
- Whether the plan can be topped up
How the route planner decides
- It turns your usage profile into gigabytes: about 0.35 GB a day for light use, 0.8 GB for standard and 1.8 GB for high.
- For every plan, it checks which of your stops are on that plan's country list.
- A plan can serve a group of stops only if it holds enough data for those days and stays valid from the first of them to the last, including any days spent elsewhere in between.
- It prices every way of dividing the route between plans and keeps the cheapest. It also reports the cheapest single plan and the cheapest set of one plan per country, so you can see what the alternative costs.
Results are ordered by total price. Nothing else affects the order.
What the comparison leaves out
- Top-ups, promo codes and loyalty credit.
- Plans with calls and SMS are listed with a note, and compared on data only.
- Network speed and which local network a plan uses. These change by provider and by country, and we have no way to measure them.
- Fair-use limits on unlimited plans. Many slow down after a daily amount. Where the provider states it, the plan carries a note.
- Recurring subscriptions and cruise plans.
When a price is wrong
Providers change prices often and run promotions. If the price on the provider's page differs from ours, the provider's page is right. Tell us through the contact page and we will recheck.
Independence
Only price and fit to your route decide the order of results. No provider can buy a position, a badge or a mention.
