How the planner decides

  1. 1

    It estimates your data

Light use is about 0.35 GB a day, standard 0.8 GB, high 1.8 GB. Days in each stop times that rate gives the gigabytes each plan has to hold.

  2. 2

It checks coverage stop by stop

A regional plan only counts for the stops on its own country list. Lists differ between providers, so two "Europe" plans can give different answers.

  3. 3

It checks validity across the gap

If one plan serves your first and third stops, it has to stay valid through the second. A 7-day plan cannot bracket a 15-day route.

  4. 4

    It prices every split

Every way of dividing the route between regional, global and single-country plans is priced. You see the cheapest, plus the single-plan and one-per-country alternatives.

What it does not do

It does not price top-ups, promo codes or bundles with calls and SMS. Prices are the regular listed price in US dollars on the date shown. Speeds, the local network used and fair-use throttling on unlimited plans are on the provider page.

How we compare

Frequently asked questions

Why is the mix sometimes cheaper than one regional plan?

Regional plans are sold in fixed sizes and durations. If your route needs 9 GB over 15 days and the regional plan jumps from 5 GB to 20 GB, a small regional plan plus one local plan can cost less.

What counts as an eSIM swap?

Each extra plan is one more eSIM to install and switch to when you cross the border. You can install all of them before leaving and switch lines in the phone settings.

Can I share the result?

Yes. The route is stored in the page address, so copying the link reproduces it. There is no account and no sign-up.
