Thailand and Vietnam are the backbone of many Southeast Asia routes, usually joined by a short flight, sometimes overland through Cambodia or Laos. They do not share a border, so there is always a third country or an airport in between. Regional Asia plans commonly include both, but the transit countries are less certain. Both are moving to 4G and 5G only: Vietnam has shut 2G, and Thailand's regulator has asked for shutdown plans.
